Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Kathleen Parker is the nation’s most widely syndicated columnist, appearing in more than 450 newspapers. She is a member of the Washington Post Writers Group and writes for Newsweek magazine, as well as USA Today, where she serves on the paper’s Board of Contributors. In October 2011, Parker launched Parker/Spitzer, a primetime cable news program on CNN with former New York governor, Eliot Spitzer, but resigned in February 2011 to spend more time on her writing. She remains a CNN contributor, is a frequent guest on the Sunday morning news programs, and is a regular panelist on The Chris Matthews Show on NBC. A Winter Haven, FL native, Parker divides her time between South Carolina, Washington, DC and New York City. She is at home both inside and outside the Beltway and often refers herself as a “spy for Bubba.” Parker came to column-writing the old-fashioned way, working her way up journalism’s ladder from smaller papers to larger ones. "I never set out to become a commentator – and do continue to resist the label 'pundit' – but I found that keeping my opinion out of my writing was impossible," says Parker. "One can only stand watching from the sidelines for so long without finally having to say, 'Um, excuse me, but you people are nuts.'" The judges of the H.L. Mencken Writing Award, which Parker won in 1993 apparently, appreciated this perspective, praising Parker for "attacking ignorance and stupidity with vividness and originality." Parker started her column in 1987 when she was a staff writer for The Orlando Sentinel. Her column was nationally syndicated in 1995 and she joined The Washington Post Writers Group in 2006. Along the way, Parker has contributed articles to The Weekly Standard, Time, Town & Country, Cosmopolitan and Fortune Small Business, and the USA Today. Her book "Save the Males: Why Men Matter, Why Women Should Care" was published in 2008 by Random House.
