About Mentor Program

SACC New York Mentor Program

The Mentor Program aims to give support to the leaders of the next generation by connecting young professionals with experienced mentors who are working internationally in executive positions.

As an extension of the SACC New York Executive Women’s Conference, a mentor program in international leadership was introduced in Spring 2007. With parallel classes in Stockholm and New York, this one-year program is unique in its global focus and features participation from well-known international companies. Mentors are recruited from SACC New York's member network and are business leaders in senior executive positions in international organizations. Mentees are young professionals (aged 28-38) who:

  • Aim to have an international career.
  • Have several years of experience in an international environment.
  • Are looking to further develop leadership skills.

The program was created in collaboration with the consulting agency Thunell, Odhnoff Sundstrom & Partners, who specializes in the development of mentoring programs. The project director, Yvonne Thunell, is an authorized mentor from the Mentor Academy in Stockholm, with many years of experience as an executive coach.

At an introductory meeting, the mentors are paired up with the class of mentees. During the year, three seminars are scheduled, focusing on international leadership, business training, and career development in international organizations. The mentor and the mentee also decide on a meeting schedule that suits them, preferably every six weeks.

Our next Mentor Program will start in spring 2011.
