Ludwig Gsänger
Bertil Edlund Scholar 2010
Ludwig Gsänger is the recipient of the Bertil Edlund Scholarship 2010 and will work as a consultant at Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout the year. Bertil Edlund handed over the scholarship himself at the 22th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. Ludwig recently graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm with a strong academic record and holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Business Management. He has international experience from studies at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland and work experience mainly from different branches of the industry sector.
“It is truly a great honor for me to be chosen for the Bertil Edlund Scholarship of 2010. This scholarship means a thrilling opportunity and I would like to thank Mr. Bertil Edlund and the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce for choosing me and their shown confidence in my ability. Maria Nilsson
Centennial Scholar 2010
Maria Nilsson is the second recipient of the SACC New York Centennial Scholarship, and will work with Events and Programs at The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc. throughout 2010. The scholarship was handed over by the Chairman of the Chamber, Mr. Tomas K.G. Ericson, and the President, Mrs. Renée Lundholm, at the 2009 Lucia Trade Award Dinner at Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.
Maria recently graduated from Lund University where she holds a Masters degree in Service Management with a major in Retail Management. She has previously studied at California State University as well as at the Institute for International Business at the State University of New York. She has work experience mainly from the retail industry, and she successfully completed an internship at SACC New York in 2008.
“This scholarship is especially meaningful to me as I worked as an intern at the Chamber during the fall of 2008. I feel very privileged to be asked to come back during 2010. As a scholar I intend on fostering Swedish-American business relationships and I know I will be given the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally. I feel very excited to work for the Membership and Events division and I can’t wait to get started.”

Staffan Steneryd
Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Scholar 2010
Staffan Steneryd is the second recipient of the 2010 Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Foundation Scholarship and will work with Membership and Events at The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., throughout 2010. Haakan B. Andersson Guldkula handed over the scholarship himself at the 22th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at Waldorf=Astoria in New York.
Staffan is currently a graduate student at the Stockholm School of Economics majoring in Marketing and Accounting. He has work experience from the fund division at Skandia and international experience from studies in the U.S., and language studies in Spain. He has also been involved in charity projects to help underprivileged youths.

First I would like to thank Mr. Anderson Guldkula for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity and for your support and confidence in me. I promise to do everything not to let you down. Jessica Safir
Haakan B. Andersson Guldkula Scholar 2009
Jessica Safir, from Stockholm, Sweden, is the recipient of the 2009 Haakan B. Andersson Guldkula scholarship and will work at Membership and Events at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout 2009. Haakan Andersson handed over the scholarship himself at the 21th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at St. Regis in New York.
She is the first recipient of the Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Foundation Scholarship. She recently graduated from University of Lund and holds a Master of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance. She has a wide range of work experience from the banking industry in Asset Management Institutional Clients and Private Banking.
"It is a true honor for me to be the first recipient of the Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Foundation Scholarship. Becoming a scholar of this foundation is especially meaningful to me as Mr. Anderson Guldkula himself was a scholar at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in 1985, the year I was born. Maybe there is a potential scholar being born right at this moment who I will be the scholarship donor of in 23 years from now!"
Mr. Anderson Guldkula was rewarded the Anders Wall's Foundation Scholarship for entrepreneurship in 1985, spending a year at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York. He is the founder of a food safety company, TracTechnology, using intellectual property and state of the art technique to create a global system in the food industry to secure healthy food, especially in developing countries.

Jacob Qvisth
Bertil Edlund Scholar 2009
Jacob Qvisth is the recipient of the Bertil Edlund scholarship of 2009 and will work at Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout the year. The scholarship was handed over by Ingvar Pramhäll at the 21th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at ST. Regis in New York. Jacob holds a Master of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Uppsala University, He has also studied at San Diego State University and at Monash University in Melbourne.
"I am very grateful for this opportunity and it is an honor for me to receive this year's Scholarship. It will be an exciting challenge and I feel privileged given the chance to work for such well recognized organization. The chamber is known for its important role in trade development and I am looking forward to start an interesting year here in New York . I hope to contribute to the successful consulting the chamber is known for and to keep up the good business relations between Sweden and America."
The Bertil Edlund Foundation was created on the initiative of Öhrlings PricewaterhouseCoopers after he ended his 20 year period as chairman and partner of Öhrlings PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Edlund has participated in the development of the accounting industry through different chairing positions. In addition, he has had leading roles internationally within PricewaterhouseCoopers and has been the world president of The International Federation of Accountants.

Carl Durlow

Carl Durlow, from Göteborg, Sweden, is the recipient of the 2008 Bertil Edlund scholarship and will work at Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout 2008. Bertil Edlund handed over the scholarship himself at the 20th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
He is currently a fourth year student at The Stockholm School of Economics where he will graduate with a Master of Science in Management. He has previously studied at La Sorbonne and Lycee International of St Germain-en-Laye in Paris. He has considerable international experience from both working and studying abroad in Europe as well as the United States.
"It is a considerable honor for me to be chosen to be The Bertil Edlund Scholar of 2008. I feel very excited to be able to join the Chamber and I am eager to start contributing. 2008 will be a truly thrilling year where I hope we will be able to do great things."

Dragana Pajovic
Centennial Scholar 2008
Dragana Pajovic is the first recipient of the annual SACC New York Centennial Scholarship and will work with Membership and Events at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York during 2008. The scholarship was handed over by the Chamber's President Ms. Renee Lundholm and Chairman Tomas K.G. Ericson at the 20th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
Dragana recently graduated from Lund University with a Master of Science in International Economics. She has also studied at University of California, San Diego and Konstanz University in Germany, specializing in trade and political economy. Additionally, she speaks five languages and has vocational experience from Washington D.C. and Slovenia. Dragana has a strong interest in international trade and public relations and looks forward to broadening her knowledge in these areas.
"I am very grateful for being awarded this scholarship and seeing as it is the first time a scholar is directly sponsored by the Chamber's Centennial fund, I feel even more honored. Working with projects and events in the Chamber means working in a dynamic setting in the financial capital of the world - the perfect springboard towards an international career."

Johan Kaijser
Edith & Claes Björk Scholar 2008
Johan Kaijser is the recipient of The Claes & Edith Björk Scholarship and will work as a consultant with Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York during 2008. Mr. Claes Björk and Mrs. Edith Björk handed over the scholarship at the 2007 Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria.
He is a recent graduate from Lund University and holds a Master of Science in Engineering with main emphasis on Logistics and Technology Management as well as a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He has a big interest for international business and to be able to contribute to the Swedish-American Business community.
"This is truly a great opportunity enabling me to pursue an international career and with a natural connection to Sweden. The Swedish - American business community still creates great ideas and this is something I take pride in promoting. Charlotta Simonsson
Ambassador and Mrs. Charles Heimbold Scholar 2007
Charlotta Simonsson is the recipient of The Ambassador and Mrs. Charles Heimbold Scholarship and will work with memberships-and events at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York during 2007. Ambassador Charles and Monica Heimbold handed over the scholarship themselves at the 2006 Lucia Luncheon at the Waldorf -Astoria.
She is a recent graduate from Lund University with a Master degree in Business Administration. She has a big interest for management and marketing and very much enjoy being in the process of executing of events. She also holds an interest in international business, having done an exchange year at University of California at Berkeley and one semester at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.
"As a graduate student this is as good as it gets. It is a fantastic opportunity and a great start on the professional career. The relations and experiences you establish through the chamber gives you an opportunity to develop professionally and personally, and is hopefully a foundation for a future international career."

Thomas Nilsson

Thomas Nilsson, from Linkoping in Sweden, is the recipient of the 2007 Bertil Edlund scholarship and will work at the Business Services practice at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York during 2007. Bertil Edlund handed over the scholarship himself at the 19th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
He is a top student from Linkoping University and holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management. He has spent one year in Singapore where he studied at the National University for Singapore. He has a strong interest in international business and trade and has an ambition to expand his knowledge in these areas by assisting Swedish companies to explore the U.S. market and establish their operations there and vice versa.
"It is a tremendous opportunity to get to New York and work at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, and it provides experiences that are impossible to get in other ways. The position includes contact with and exposure to a wide array of businesses and companies and provides an unbeatable opportunity to earn the business experience to further an international career", says Thomas Nilsson.

Dan Frohm, from Linkoping in Sweden, received the Bertil Edlund Scholarship of 2006. Bertil Edlund handed over the stipend himself at the 18th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
He is a top student from Industrial Engineering and Management at Linkoping University. He has a strong interest in international trade and business consulting and has an ambition to expand his knowledge in these areas by assisting Swedish companies to establish their operations in the U.S. and by helping U.S. companies with exploring Swedish markets.
-- I feel privileged and excited to get the opportunity to develop my knowledge in business consulting and international commerce. It is especially honoring to be the first Scholar form Linkoping University. This Scholarship program is as far as I'm concerned one of the foremost international career opportunities for Swedish graduate students, says Dan Frohm.

Gustaf Rössner
Karl & Louise Andren Scholar 2006
Gustaf Rossner, from Stockholm in Sweden, received the Karl and Louise Andrén Scholarship of 2006. Karl and Louise Andrén handed over the stipend themselves at the 18th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York.
He is a M.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration graduate with a Management major from the Stockholm School of Economics. He has always enjoyed organizing and managing people, events and the combination of those two. He has a keen interest in international business, having done an exchange semester at the MBA program of the Asian Institute of Management in the Philippines and combining his work at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce with writing his master´s thesis on Effective Organizational Cultures in Subsidiaries of Swedish firms in the U.S.
-- It is a great honor to be awarded 18 months at the Chamber where I can extend my knowledge of management and event creation. Being the first scholar at the Membership and Events department makes it even more special. The Young Professionals program that I am fortunate enough to run for the Chamber is also a great way to expand not just mine, but also the network of other young Swedes and Americans in the New York area.

Maria Sundell
Charles E. Long Scholar 2005
Maria Sundell was awarded the Charles E Long Scholarship to join the Chamber as a consultant at Business Services. She was appointed by a selection committee chaired by Claes Dahlbäck, who recognized that she would be a great addition to the Chamber. The scholarship was presented at the Lucia Trade Award Dinner, held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, in honor and presence of the 2004 Lucia Trade Award recipient Mr. Ingvar Kamprad.
She graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics in the spring of 2006, with a Master of Science in Business Administration and Economics with a major in Accounting and Financial Management. She had previously studied both in London and Hong Kong.

Carl Persson
Lyndon & Kay Olson Scholar 2004
Carl Person is the recipient of the Ambassador Lyndon and Kay Olson scholarship to work as a consultant at the Chamber's Business Services. He was offered a scholarship after first completing a six-month internship at the Chamber. He received his scholarship from the Swedish Crown Princess Viktoria at the Lucia Trade Award ceremony at the Waldorf=Astoria.
He has a M.Sc. from the Stockholm School of Economics with a focus on Business and Economics. He has gained educational experience from studying at both the University of St. Gallen as well as the London School of Economics. Carl has also acquired practical work experience abroad by working in Zürich, Switzerland for Reuters, additionally to working at Danske Bank in Copenhagen, Denmark.
About working at the Chamber He said; "working here at the Chamber's Business services Division is extremely exciting and rewarding, since it provides opportunities to be involved in various consultancy projects in all kinds of industries."

Erik Ulin
Bonnier Group Scholar 2003
Erik Ulin became the Bonnier Group Scholar as of January 2003. Erik Ulin is a M.Sc. graduate from Stockholm School of Economics and has studied at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He fulfilled his military service as a Russian interpreter at the Swedish Defense Language Institute and has held a position at the Swedish Embassy in Moscow and Alstom Transport Business Development in Paris.
-"I was graciously offered to become the Bonnier Group Scholar at the Chamber, which was truly an offer I could not refuse. Being a part of the Chamber is a valuable experience, not the least for the networking experiences that the Chamber provides." Erik Ulin said.
He worked as a consultant with Business Services, which gave him the opportunity to engage in projects within several different industries. After his time at the Chamber, Erik Ulin joined Arthur D. Little working as a Management Consultant.

Sara Gudmarsson
Gunnar Gillberg Scholar 2001 Björn & Diane Ahlström Scholar 2002
Sara Gudmarsson received the Gunnar Gillberg scholarship of 2002 as well as the Bjorn & Diane Ahlstrom Scholarship in 2002. She joined the Chamber's team of consultants bringing previous experience from working with OMX Group in Stockholm, and spent two years at the Business Services department. She holds a M.Sc. from Stockholm School of Economics where she majored in Marketing and Management and Organization.
--"This allowed me to gain international and consulting experience as well as firsthand insight to the vast network SACC has built up throughout its long presence in New York. My time at SACC New York allowed me to develop professionally as well as personally."
During her time at the Chamber She worked on several projects focusing on assisting Swedish enterprises seeking to start business operations in the U.S. She was also involved in many of the publications and the events that the Chamber produces for its members. After her time at the Chamber Sara Gudmarsson joined Nordea in Sweden, working as a Sales Manager of Structured Products.

Andreas Borelli
Gunnar Gillberg Scholar 2001
Andreas Borelli, received the Gunnar Gillberg Scholarship and joined the Chambers Business Services department in 2001. Andreas is a M.Sc. graduate from Stockholm School of Economics with an impressive academic background that includes studies at Stanford University, CA; Stockholm University, Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden; and Perpignan University, France.
"I thank Mr. Gillberg for his generosity in providing the scholarship and I encourage others to support the scholarship program, so that ambitious graduates can be given this opportunity to work for the Chamber," he said.
He continued working at the Chamber after his scholarship and became Manager at the Business Services department. He managed many consulting projects for the chamber through out the years and developed new business areas and services promoting and enabling business between the US and Sweden.

Louise Lundborg
Gunnar Gillberg Scholar 2000
Louse Lundborg is a recepient of the Gunnar Gillberg Scholarship and joined the Chamber in September 2000 as a consultant. She holds a M.Sc. in Business Administration and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics. Prior to joining SACC New York Louise worked as a consultant for JKL, a large Swedish PR- consultancy firm. She specialized in financial communication, mainly working with the communication surrounding IPOs, mergers and acquisitions.
While at the Chamber She worked with establishment analysis for a large listed Swedish company, the annualSACC New York Trend Report as well as finding U.S. retailers for Scandinavia's largest candle manufacturer.

Louise Granmar
Gunnar Gillberg Scholar 1999
Louise Granmar received the Gunnar Gillberg Scholarship of 1999. M.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration from Stockholm School of Economics, with international exchange student experience from SDA Bocconi's School of Management in Milan, Italy and University Aix-Marseilles III in Marseilles, France. Louise had experience from working at Karolinska Institutet and IconMedialab, and when she joined the Chamber she came from a trainee programme with the management-consulting firm Accenture.
--"Together with my management consulting background, the more entrepreneurial work and spirit at the SACCNY, has been a very good experience in my future career."
As a scholar at the Chamber She mostly assisted small and medium sized Swedish Companies to start up in the U.S. She also managed several projects promoting Swedish export. The job required She to quickly learn and adapt so that she could understand the needs of the different clients and their industries. The Chambers network was invaluable in her work and the experience has proved of great value in her future career. She returned to Sweden to work as a consultant in competence development, marketing and strategic communication at ICA AB in Stockholm.

Anders Långsved
Gunnar Gillberg Scholar 1999
Anders Långsved received the Gunnar Gillberg scholarship of 1999, and is a graduate from the Stockholm School of Economics. Anders had previsouly studied at the Melbourne Business School in Australia, and was enthusiastic to gain further insights in the world of international business.
--"It was a great opportunity to meet and interact with the local Swedish business community and to always reach new insights", he said.
His time at the Chamber was heavily influenced by the IT-boom. Inspired to work in the IT-industry, he joined a successful startup in Stockholm after his scholarship ended.

Gunnar Gillberg Scholar 1998
Johan Lundin was one of the two first scholars awarded the Gunnar Gillberg scholarship. Johan is a graduate from the Stockholm School of Economics with international experience from both France and Germany. After his time at the Chamber, he was offered a position at L'Oreal in Paris, France.
