Mentor Program
Mentor Program As an extension and development of the SACC New York Executive Women’s Conference, a mentor program in international leadership was introduced during the spring of 2007. The purpose is to offer support to the leaders of the next generation by connecting young business women with experienced female mentors who are working internationally in executive positions.
The Mentor Program runs parallel in Stockholm and New York, and we are now in our second year of the program. This one year program is unique with its global focus and representation from multiple well-known international companies, and in 2008 we have 54 participants representing 41 companies. Mentors are recruited from SACC New York’s member network and are women leaders in senior executive positions in international organizations. Mentees are young women leaders (ages 28 – 38) who;
• Aim for an international career • Have several years of work experience in an international environment • Are looking to further develop leadership skills
The formation of the program was created in collaboration with the consulting agency Thunell, Odhnoff Sundström & Partners, who specializes in development of mentor programs. The project director, Yvonne Thunell, is an authorized mentor from the Mentor Academy in Stockholm, with many years of experience as a coach and mentor for executives.
The program starts with an Introduction meeting and Kick Off where the mentors are paired up with a talented group of mentees. During the reminder of the year, there will be three additional seminars, focusing on international leadership, a business training workshop, and a seminar on career focus and development in international organizations. The mentor and the mentee will further decide on a meeting schedule that suits them, preferable with a meeting every 6 weeks.
Our next Mentor Program starts in March of 2009.
