SACC New York Scholarship Recipients

  Beatrice Nylund Bertil Edlund Scholar 2011

  Beatrice Nylund is the recipient of the Bertil Edlund Scholarship and will work at the GreenTech & Business Services Division at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout 2011. Bertil Edlund handed over the scholarship himself at the 23rd Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
  
  Prior to her scholarship at the Chamber Beatrice was the President of the Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) where she represented 2,000 students and worked with strategic issues such as corporate governance, corporate relations, and branding. Beatrice has studied Business and Economics at SSE, specializing in Marketing and Accounting. She has also completed studies in Rhetoric at Gothenburg University and is fluent in French after spending two years in France.
  
   “It is an honor and a true privilege to receive the Bertil Edlund Scholarship 2011. I would like to thank the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York, and especially President Renée Lundholm for believing in me and giving me this great opportunity. I would also like to thank Mr. Bertil Edlund for making this possible. He grew up in the dark forests of Sweden, just like I did. Having an incurable thirst for knowledge he went to Stockholm to get a solid education at the Stockholm School of Economics, just like I did. Bertil is a true entrepreneur who seizes the opportunities and has through that created an amazing career. I am thankful for his generosity and believe that being the Bertil Edlund Scholar of 2011, getting to spend a year in New York at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, is a first step in creating an amazing career of my own.   Sana Alajmovic Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Scholar 2011

  Sana Alajmovic is the third recipient of the Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Foundation Scholarship and will work with Membership and Events at The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., throughout 2011. Haakan B. Andersson Guldkula handed over the scholarship himself at the 23th Lucia Trade Award Gala Dinner at Waldorf=Astoria in New York.
  
  Sana has a Bachelors degree in Business and Economics from Stockholm School of Economics, with a major in Economics and a minor in Marketing. She is studying for a Bachelors degree in Philosophy at Stockholm University and has conducted studies in literature at Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Her work experience includes the venture capital firm Curitas, consulting company Arkwright Group, and an internship at the cosmetics company Oriflame in Istanbul, Turkey. She has also managed the charity foundation Chelha which supports charitable causes relating to children and education. Sana is the proud recipient of the McKinsey Awards, 1st Prize in the Category Charity and Social Work, and the Humanist of the Year Award in Sweden’s biggest national case competition the Student Prize.
  
  “I feel truly honored, excited, but above all, happy to stand here in front of you as the third recipient of the Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Foundation Scholarship. Mr. Andersson Guldkula has through his investment, charity and entrepreneurial activities gone his own way. His successful career and remarkable life story bring to mind the famous lines of the great American poet Robert Frost: “Two roads diverged in a wood and I - I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.” So Haakan thank you for not only enabling me to work one year at The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce, but also for reminding me about the importance of forging your own path in life. I would also like to thank the Chamber, and in particular the President of the Chamber Renée Lundholm, for organizing this Scholarship Program.   Ludwig Gsänger Bertil Edlund Scholar 2010

  Ludwig Gsänger is the recipient of the Bertil Edlund Scholarship 2010 and will work as a consultant at Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout the year. Bertil Edlund handed over the scholarship himself at the 22th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York. Ludwig recently graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm with a strong academic record and holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Business Management. He has international experience from studies at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland and work experience mainly from different branches of the industry sector.

This scholarship means a thrilling opportunity and I would like to thank Mr. Bertil Edlund and the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce for choosing me and their shown confidence in my ability.   Maria Nilsson Centennial Scholar 2010

  Maria Nilsson is the second recipient of the SACC New York Centennial Scholarship, and will work with Events and Programs at The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc. throughout 2010. The scholarship was handed over by the Chairman of the Chamber, Mr. Tomas K.G. Ericson, and the President, Mrs. Renée Lundholm, at the 2009 Lucia Trade Award Dinner at Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.
  
  Maria recently graduated from Lund University where she holds a Masters degree in Service Management with a major in Retail Management. She has previously studied at California State University as well as at the Institute for International Business at the State University of New York. She has work experience mainly from the retail industry, and she successfully completed an internship at SACC New York in 2008.
  
  “This scholarship is especially meaningful to me as I worked as an intern at the Chamber during the fall of 2008. I feel very privileged to be asked to come back during 2010. As a scholar I intend on fostering Swedish-American business relationships and I know I will be given the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally. I feel very excited to work for the Membership and Events division and I can’t wait to get started.”

  Staffan Steneryd Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Scholar 2010

  Staffan Steneryd is the second recipient of the 2010 Haakan B. Anderson Guldkula Foundation Scholarship and will work with Membership and Events at The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., throughout 2010. Haakan B. Andersson Guldkula handed over the scholarship himself at the 22th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at Waldorf=Astoria in New York.
  
  Staffan is currently a graduate student at the Stockholm School of Economics majoring in Marketing and Accounting. He has work experience from the fund division at Skandia and international experience from studies in the U.S., and language studies in Spain. He has also been involved in charity projects to help underprivileged youths.
