Fanny Yu is the second scholar to receive the Henry and Barbara Gooss Scholarship, which was established in 2013. She holds an MSc in Business and Economics from Lund University, and spent a semester studying at Shanghai Jiaotong University in China. Most recently she worked for Zalando SE, Europe’s largest online fashion retailer, where she was in charge of email marketing activities for Sweden. In 2013, Fanny spent a summer interning at Oriflame in Thailand, and she also helped open China’s biggest Hästens and Rolf Benz store in Xiamen. While at university, she was the Chairman of the International Quorum, Kuratorskollegiet, and led the international collaboration between the school’s 13 student nations.
Karin Lind is the fourth recipient of the Uppsala University Scholarship, which was established in 2011. She holds a BA in Media and Communication studies from Stockholm University, and is studying towards her Masters of Arts degree at Uppsala University, where she is specializing in Management, Communication and IT. Between obtaining her BA and starting her Master’s, she spent a year as an exchange student at University of Rochester in Upstate New York. During her undergraduate studies, Karin served two separate terms on her student organization’s election committee, and was responsible for the planning, marketing and execution of the election process. She is proficient in Internet publishing and web design.
William Jilltoft is the 10th recipient of the Bertil Edlund Scholarship. William holds a BSc in Real Estate and Finance from the Royal Institute of Technology, where he is currently pursuing a Masters of Science degree. Last year, he did PR and marketing for Lava 2014, an annual career fair held in Stockholm, which involved coordinating more than 170 student volunteers. He also founded Tromsfjord Fisk, which imports fresh fish from Norway. William served in the military from 2009 to 2010, and quickly climbed the ranks to squadron leader, earning the Soldier of the Year award.
Claës af Burén is the first scholar to receive the Henry and Barbara Gooss Scholarship, which was created last year. Claes holds an MSE in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Royal Institute of Technology, where he wrote a thesis for the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. He also holds a BSc in Business and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics. During his studies, Claes was involved in organizing several noteworthy events. Most recently, in 2013, he was the Ceremony Usher for the Nobel Prize festivities. He is the owner of a sustainable agriculture company, which he founded in 2008.
Ulrika Berg is the third recipient of the Uppsala University Scholarship, which was established in 2011. She holds a BSc in Business Economics from Uppsala University and spent two years studying public relations at Long Island University in Brookville, NY. As a member of one of Uppsala University’s student associations, Uppsalaekonomerna, Ulrika served as the Head of Events and Communications on a variety of projects. She has experiences from working with communications at the PR agency Cohn & Wolfe and with marketing at Vattenfall, one of Europe’s leading energy companies.
