SACC New York Scholarship Recipients

  • Jacob Qvisth Bertil Edlund Scholar 2009

    Jacob Qvisth is the recipient of the Bertil Edlund scholarship of 2009 and will work at Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout the year. The scholarship was handed over by Ingvar Pramhäll at the 21th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at ST. Regis in New York. Jacob holds a Master of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance from Uppsala University, He has also studied at San Diego State University and at Monash University in Melbourne.

    "I am very grateful for this opportunity and it is an honor for me to receive this year's Scholarship. It will be an exciting challenge and I feel privileged given the chance to work for such well recognized organization. The chamber is known for its important role in trade development and I am looking forward to start an interesting year here in New York . I hope to contribute to the successful consulting the chamber is known for and to keep up the good business relations between Sweden and America."

    The Bertil Edlund Foundation was created on the initiative of Öhrlings PricewaterhouseCoopers after he ended his 20 year period as chairman and partner of Öhrlings PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Edlund has participated in the development of the accounting industry through different chairing positions. In addition, he has had leading roles internationally within PricewaterhouseCoopers and has been the world president of The International Federation of Accountants.

  • Carl Durlow Bertil Edlund Scholar 2008

    Carl Durlow, from Göteborg, Sweden, is the recipient of the 2008 Bertil Edlund scholarship and will work at Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York throughout 2008. Bertil Edlund handed over the scholarship himself at the 20th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

    He is currently a fourth year student at The Stockholm School of Economics where he will graduate with a Master of Science in Management. He has previously studied at La Sorbonne and Lycee International of St Germain-en-Laye in Paris. He has considerable international experience from both working and studying abroad in Europe as well as the United States.

    "It is a considerable honor for me to be chosen to be The Bertil Edlund Scholar of 2008. I feel very excited to be able to join the Chamber and I am eager to start contributing. 2008 will be a truly thrilling year where I hope we will be able to do great things."

  • Dragana Pajovic Centennial Scholar 2008

    Dragana Pajovic is the first recipient of the annual SACC New York Centennial Scholarship and will work with Membership and Events at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York during 2008. The scholarship was handed over by the Chamber's President Ms. Renee Lundholm and Chairman Tomas K.G. Ericson at the 20th Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

    Dragana recently graduated from Lund University with a Master of Science in International Economics. She has also studied at University of California, San Diego and Konstanz University in Germany, specializing in trade and political economy. Additionally, she speaks five languages and has vocational experience from Washington D.C. and Slovenia. Dragana has a strong interest in international trade and public relations and looks forward to broadening her knowledge in these areas.

     "I am very grateful for being awarded this scholarship and seeing as it is the first time a scholar is directly sponsored by the Chamber's Centennial fund, I feel even more honored. Working with projects and events in the Chamber means working in a dynamic setting in the financial capital of the world - the perfect springboard towards an international career."

  • Johan Kaijser Edith & Claes Bj√∂rk Scholar 2008

    Johan Kaijser is the recipient of The Claes & Edith Björk Scholarship and will work as a consultant with Business Services at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York during 2008. Mr. Claes Björk and Mrs. Edith Björk handed over the scholarship at the 2007 Lucia Trade Award Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria.

    He is a recent graduate from Lund University and holds a Master of Science in Engineering with main emphasis on Logistics and Technology Management as well as a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He has a big interest for international business and to be able to contribute to the Swedish-American Business community.

    "This is truly a great opportunity enabling me to pursue an international career and with a natural connection to Sweden. The Swedish - American business community still creates great ideas and this is something I take pride in promoting. The relations and experiences I get when working for the chamber gives me an opportunity to develop professionally and personally. It is of great value independently of wherever I go in the future.

  • Charlotta Simonsson Ambassador and Mrs. Charles Heimbold Scholar 2007

    Charlotta Simonsson is the recipient of The Ambassador and Mrs. Charles Heimbold Scholarship and will work with memberships-and events at the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Inc., New York during 2007. Ambassador Charles and Monica Heimbold handed over the scholarship themselves at the 2006 Lucia Luncheon at the Waldorf -Astoria.

    She is a recent graduate from Lund University with a Master degree in Business Administration. She has a big interest for management and marketing and very much enjoy being in the process of executing of events. She also holds an interest in international business, having done an exchange year at University of California at Berkeley and one semester at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands.

    "As a graduate student this is as good as it gets. It is a fantastic opportunity and a great start on the professional career. The relations and experiences you establish through the chamber gives you an opportunity to develop professionally and personally, and is hopefully a foundation for a future international career."
