The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York, in collaboration with Deloitte, are pleased to announce the winner of the 2017 SACCNY-Deloitte Green Award: Whywaste, a Swedish-based company offering digital solutions enabling retailers to easily identify products at risk of passing their expiration date to reduce waste.
Every year the SACCNY-Deloitte Green Award is presented to a Swedish company that offers a breakthrough “green” solution or technology. The winning company or organization must demonstrate forward-thinking and innovation within sustainability and food production. The jury selected Whywaste as winners with the following motivation:
“With an innovative and easy-to-use solution for the food chain industry, Whywaste has shown great potential in decreasing the amount of food waste, contributing to both sustainability and profitability in the food industry”.
– Andreas Marcetic, Partner, Deloitte AB
Kristoffer Hagstedt, Annika Hellenberg and Martin Grådal from Whywaste accepted the award on stage at the Sustainology Summit held on November 7 at Citi TriBeCa in New York City.
Food waste is a global problem. At Whywaste, our ambition is to help reduce waste beyond Sweden’s borders which is why we are very excited about the SACCNY-Deloitte Green Award and about the opportunity to take advantage of SACCNY’s knowledge and accumulated experience from the U.S. market.
