On Thursday, May 20, The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York (SACCNY) had the pleasure of meeting up with Oatly founder Björn Öste at Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square to celebrate Oatly’s IPO.

When the market opened at 9:30am ET, glasses with Champagne and Chocolate Oatly were raised to salute the success of the plant-based milk alternative, now trading under the ticker “OTLY”. The same evening, the celebration continued in partnership with the Consulate General of Sweden in New York at the Swedish Residence on Park Avenue. Thanks to Annika Rembe, the Consul General of Sweden in New York, and her team, the menu included innovative and delicious hors d’oeuvre made with Oatly products.

“Björn Öste is a close friend to the Chamber, and we’re thrilled to honor his important work in the FoodTech space,” states SACCNY President Anna Throne-Holst. “Björn has previously been a keynote speaker at our annual conference, Sustainology, and we’re excited to partner with him once again for our newly launched summit, InnovateNordics, which is taking place in NYC this November.” This year, SACCNY has merged its FoodTech and CleanTech meet-ups, Sustainology and Innovate46, into one powerful summit. “Through this initiative, we’re bringing together the best and brightest emergent Nordic innovators tackling the world’s most pressing challenges, while creating business and growth, and Oatly is of course at the very forefront of this journey,” Throne-Holst continues.

“Our job now is to identify and support the next Oatly, and to continue to accelerate and market Swedish innovation on the global stage,” says SACCNY COO and Specialist, Emma Fredwall, whose team currently is finalizing the planning of an Acceleration Program tailored to promising FoodTech and CleanTech companies. “Through our data and insights-driven approach to our programming, we continuously iterate on how we can support emerging companies that use breakthrough technology and innovation to solve global challenges – just like Oatly”, states Fredwall. The InnovateNordics Acceleration program will kick off in September and culminate with the InnovateNordics Summit in November, where participating companies will have the opportunity to pitch on the world stage.
