The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York (SACCNY) is looking for a Business Services Manager to join our team. As a Business Services Manager, you will support both new and established Swedish businesses to execute on their U.S. expansion strategies, and work to identify and leverage synergies between startups, scaleups, large corporations, and non-profits. You will gain unparalleled insight into the U.S. business environment and Swedish-American exchanges, and develop an invaluable network of Swedish and American business executives and entrepreneurs.

With a new mission to act as the indispensable support arm for internationalizing Swedish entrepreneurship and innovation, SACCNY recently launched Gateway – a State-of-the-Art innovation hub and co-working space aimed at providing Swedish and Nordic businesses a unique soft landing and launch platform on to the U.S. market. You Will
The Division of Business Services oversees The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce NY’s business and professional client relations, and provides guidance, B2B networking, and similar services, primarily to assist member and new businesses thrive in the US market. In addition, Business Services designs, plans, develops and executes the yearly Innovate46 Conference at Nasdaq, and in coordination with several Public and Private Sector Swedish business development agencies and organizations. Business Services acts as primary manager for Gateway, a newly developed co-working, conferencing, and event space with a mission to provide a soft landing and launching pad for growing scale-up companies, primarily of Swedish and Scandinavian origin. Gateway also seeks to offer a regular and robust roster of innovation and leadership events, including workshops, speaker events, hackathons, innovation roundtables, etc. Conference and event spaces are available for occupancy and use by SACCNY members as well as other professionals seeking a high-end professional and business platform in the New York City area. Business Services is currently growing and developing a series of business acceleration programs primarily for the benefit of Swedish and Scandinavian scale and start-up businesses and professionals, offering an intensive weeklong program covering the areas of pitch training, US legal, regulatory and establishment practices, go-to market strategy guidance, and more.
Role and Responsibilities:
The Director of Business Services works closely with SACCNY/Gateway President and reports directly to her. The Director of Business Services also works closely with the organization’s Gateway Manager, who is responsible for the successful development and management of Gateway, including, desk and studio office occupancy and sales, conference room and event space occupancy and sales, as well as innovation events, programming, and offerings. The Business Services Director is responsible, in coordination with SACCNY/Gateway President, for the development and oversight of the yearly Business Services and Gateway Operational Budgets (the latter in coordination with the Gateway Manager,) as well as responsible for the oversight, guidance, workplan, and assignments of all SACCNY Business Service team employees, including scholars, trainees, and interns. The Business Services Manager and Team is responsible to ensure the successful development and implementation of the yearly Innovate46 Conference. With the help of members of the Communications and Events teams, the Business Services Manager designs develops and coordinates all areas of this important project, including identifying and inviting speakers, panelists, moderators, etc. Additional responsibilities for I46 include securing sponsorship, successful information dissemination, media and other coverage, attendance, and more. The Business Services Director is further responsible for the development and successful provision of Business Service’s programs and services, including Acceleration Week Programs. The Business Services Director shall endeavor to grow relevance of SACCNY services and programs with the purpose of optimally serving existing, as well as growing, future membership.
Experience and Skill
The Business Services Manager is a high-energy, self-motivated team player, with a passion for innovation and small business development. The Business Services Director is a sales and customer service-oriented individual with a keen sense of the growing and highly charged innovation and start-up sector in Sweden and Scandinavia, as well as the equivalent scene and sector in New York and the US. Strong oral and written skills are a must. Swedish language proficiency is required. The Business Services Director has experience and aptitude with organizational budget and oversight, as well as basic contract oversight. A natural leader with the ability and proven track record and experience to multi-task, think ahead, and creatively fulfill the duties outlined above.
